LEGACY OF IDI AMIN DADA

To paraphrase the words of Idi Amin Dada, who in Maputo have a street named after him, "There is a freedom of speech, but I can’t guarantee freedom after speech", one could say that this is the essence of the bizarre democracy of the Frelimo party. The question is whether this party at any time will be able to openly admit that it is a communist party, which will never allow free market economy and that it will never allow the birth of true democracy in Mozambique. The bloodily suppressed election protests clearly showed the true face of Frelimo.

Samora Machel's famous words "a luta continua" in today's Frelimo version mean "a luta continua of the Mozambican nation" which is a slave of the Frelimo government and from a government which basks in luxury, receives only scraps for a minimum survival so as not to die of hunger like a dog.

It would seem that in 2025 the Mozambique can’t be governed the same way as North Korea or Iran, that It is already a thing of the past that even a party with Marxist roots will slowly transform into a free market democracy, maybe not a democracy like real democratic countries, but an African democracy without violent tendencies towards its population. On the other hand, what can be expected of a government that keeps the names of e.g. Idi Amin Dada.
