In recent press reports, the BBC stated that during a recent interview given by the President of the People, Mr. Venancio Mondlane stated that he could cooperate with the Frelimo government and even join its ranks if Daniel Chapo agreed to implement his demands. In turn, Daniel Chapo in another interview stated that Mr. Mondlane could join the government, provided that a special body composed of some pseudo-experts would have to check his competences and qualifications. In other words, the client, completely without political support, claims that he has appointed a commission to decide whether a man with the support of the entire society can graciously and possibly join the ranks of the discredited and bribery government Frelimo.
If it weren't for the many people killed and injured by the Frelimo regime, we could laugh, mock and knock ourselves on the forehead, but unfortunately this is not a joke. The Frelimo party is known for buying and paying to be silenced, and has done so many times. Politically, I suspect it would be political suicide. Even the most noble political idea cannot survive in a democracy (which, of course, Mozambique is not, yet) without creating its own local and party structures. Without solid foundations created in the field, no political entity can survive in the long run, because someone has to work for political success. It is a very tedious and time-consuming work, in addition in conditions of pretended democracy, but in fact in conditions of political terror.
