IN A POOR AND HUNGRY COUNTRY, CRIME FLOURISHES. IN A WELL-FED AND WELL-MANAGED COUNTRY, CRIME IS MINIMAL

How crime thrives in poor and mismanaged countries, where weak legal systems are vulnerable to corruption and political influence. During a transition from dictatorship to democracy, instability is often inevitable but necessary for true governance reform.

In a weak state, law and order do not work, in a weak state, the justice system and services enforcing legal order are susceptible to bribery and political pressure from those in power, and are unable to enforce the law. In a weak country ruled by political mafias, organized criminal groups have carte blanche for their criminal activities. Moreover, during the transition period from political dictatorship to true democracy, a given country is exposed to economic and social destabilization, unfortunately these are often costs that societies must bear in order to have their own independent and democratically elected government and administration. May this change take place in Mozambique as soon as possible, may the current government finally understand that they will no longer rule here, may they have a minimum of decency to look in the mirror and say "I give up" and instead of denying it, may they join the process of democratization and normalization our common Mozambique state.
